Parent Access to Instructional Plans / Year-at-a-Glance (YAG)

In accordance with Texas Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), Pineywoods Community Academy provides parents with access to instructional plans for all courses offered.

The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) are the state standards that outline what students are expected to learn at each grade level and in each course. Student learning is measured through classroom assessments and, where applicable, Texas state assessments.

Our Year-at-a-Glance (YAG) documents organize the TEKS into instructional units and provide an overview of the curriculum taught throughout the school year. These documents are intended to help families understand the sequence of instruction and the learning expectations for each course.

For additional information about the TEKS, including detailed standards for each course and grade level, please visit the Texas Education Agency's TEKS webpage.

Welcome from our Principal

Candice Hardin

Dear Pineywoods Community Academy Family,

Welcome to Pineywoods Community Academy High School! It is truly an honor to serve as principal of a school and community that I care deeply about. This is my third year as principal, and I am grateful to continue building on the relationships and traditions that make our school such a special place. I have had the privilege of being part of the Pineywoods family for the past nine years, and during that time I have witnessed firsthand the dedication of our students, staff, and families.

At Pineywoods Community Academy High School, we are committed to creating an environment where every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Our Early College High School (ECHS) model provides students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school and develop the independence, confidence, and skills they will need for success beyond graduation. Through our P-TECH Health Careers pathway, students can also explore careers in the healthcare field while gaining valuable academic and industry knowledge that prepares them for the workforce or further study.

We are proud to offer OnRamps courses, which give students the opportunity to engage in rigorous, college-level coursework while still receiving the support they need to succeed. In addition to strong academics, our extracurricular activities provide students opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and perseverance—skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.

I believe strong schools are built on strong partnerships, and I am thankful for the continued support of our families and community. Together, we will continue to create meaningful opportunities for our students and celebrate their achievements along the way.

Thank you for being part of the Pineywoods Community Academy family. I look forward to another great year of learning, growth, and success for our students.

Candice Hardin

Warm regards,
Dr. Candice Hardin
